Ticket Cancellation Policy

I-Ticket Cancellation:

I-ticket cannot be cancelled online and it needs to be cancelled at a computerized reservation counter. The point to be kept in mind is that the cancellation slip of the ticket has to be kept safely till the amount of the ticket gets refunded into your bank accounts. In case the I-ticket has been booked in the Tatkal quota then a total refund of 25% of the ticket amount is returned excluding the Tatkal charges. This is the case if the I-ticket is being cancelled beyond 24 hours of the train departure. No refund is made on the cancellation of a confirmed ticket within 24hours of scheduled departure. If the ticket is left in the waitlist the charges will be made according to the guidelines laid down by the railway authorities at that time.

E-Ticket Cancellation:

This can be done only through the Internet (Irctc web site)before the Indian railway reservation chart is prepared which is normally prepared four hours before the scheduled departure of the train from the originating station. Cancellation is not allowed across railway counters. Cancellation will be confirmed online and the refund credited to the account that was used for booking the ticket. In case of partial cancellation of the ticket, please ensure the modified ERS is printed separately. For any claims on e-tickets to be cancelled after the reservation chart is prepared, please write to etickets@irctc.co.in. Please mention full details of the ticket, stating the claim. IRCTC will process the claim along with the railway administration and credit the refund, as sanctioned by the Railways, to the user's account.
